HEIC to JPG without uploading

Drop iPhone HEIC or HEIF photos and get JPGs back. Convert several at once, then download them one by one or as a single ZIP — the files never leave your device.

HEIC/HEIF only. iPhone Live Photos and RAW files are not supported.

How it works

  1. Select one or more HEIC or HEIF files from your iPhone, iPad or Mac.
  2. Wait while each photo is decoded and re-encoded as JPG on your device.
  3. Check the size and preview, then download one file or all of them as a ZIP.

Frequently asked questions

Does converting HEIC to JPG reduce quality?

A little. Both formats are lossy; this converter re-encodes at high quality (about 90%). The difference is usually invisible, but repeated conversions add artifacts. Keep the original HEIC as your archive.

Are my photos uploaded?

No. The HEIC decoder is a WebAssembly module downloaded when you pick a file, and it runs inside this tab. Open DevTools → Network and convert a photo: no photo data is sent anywhere.

Why will a HEIC file not convert?

Some files are HEIC sequences, use an unusual HDR profile or contain RAW data. Export a single photo from Photos and try again. Live Photos and videos are not supported.

Can I convert photos on a phone?

Yes, in Safari on iOS 16+ and current Chrome on Android. Older phones have less memory, so convert 10–20 photos at a time.

Does the JPG keep EXIF and GPS?

No. The output is newly encoded, so the original camera metadata and GPS are not carried over. To inspect metadata before removing it, use Remove EXIF.

What it can't do

  • HEIC and HEIF only; RAW (DNG), Live Photos and videos are not supported.
  • HDR and wide-gamut photos may look slightly flatter because JPG has a smaller colour range.
  • Very large batches are limited by device memory; there is no server fallback.
